Scenes from the writing life: thoughts, observations, musings, maunderings, rants, stories and essays on what it means to be a working writer, striving to communicate my ideas (or my client's ideas) with clarity, humor and eloquence.

I finally succumbed to the classmates.com siren song and subscribed a few months ago. I found a few old friends that way. I don't have the impression that any of *them* had to pay to get my messages. I thought you only had to pay to initiate contact. My subscription is about to expire so we'll see how evilly they treat that, if they threaten to delete the entire profile, pics and records and all. (I'm registered in 5 schools.)

I was a little disappointed in a different way. Most of the people I contacted didn't seem to want to converse very much. Guess I wasn't as cool or warm or whatever as I remember. But in full disclosure, many of the names I remember most precisely were of the girls who spurned my meager overtures. They must have thought I was executing a timeout - retry, but really I wanted to platonically reminisce. Unless of course I'm fooling myself, quite possible...
